Passengers on the flight were held up, with the departure time continuously being delayed. Eventually, the pilot informed the passengers that he had been bitten by a mosquito in the cockpit and wanted the entire plane deep-cleaned to ensure there were no more bugs.
The originally one-hour flight was scheduled to depart from Schiphol Airport at 5:05 pm on September 25. However, due to the infestation of mosquitoes and the subsequent deep cleaning, passengers did not arrive in Manchester until 10:30 pm.
EasyJet confirmed the infestation issue and offered passengers a compensation voucher of £3.90 for food, which some passengers found insufficient. They believed that another plane could have been provided to minimize the delay.
An EasyJet spokesperson stated that the flight crew's ability to operate the flight was not compromised, and the captain decided to proceed with the flight once the issue was resolved. EasyJet apologized to customers for any inconvenience caused and emphasized the safety and well-being of passengers and crew as their highest priority.
