EastEnders reveals major return of a show legend in social media picture

EastEnders has confirmed the return of Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) in a recent social media post, which has left fans thrilled.

Posting on Instagram and Twitter, EastEnders shared a photo of actor Rudolph Walker alongside his co-star Letitia Dean, who has played Sharon Watts since 1985.

The photo was very aptly captioned: 'Two icons. One photo.'

After joining the soap in 2001, Patrick cemented himself as a Walford icon, having been involved in countless storylines over the years, including affairs and a devastating stroke.

Patrick left the Square several weeks ago in search of the love of his life, Yolande.

After winning on the horses, he was feeling lucky, and decided to follow his heart to go after what he really wanted.

However, it would appear that he will soon be back, news which has left fans thrilled.

'Love love love!' One fan said on Instagram, with a love heart emoji.

'Does this mean Patrick is back? Love him.' Another wrote.

Patrick may be back on the Square soon

'True Icons, love them both.' A third added, while another asked the question we were all thinking: 'Yolande return?'

Over on Twitter, the buzz was just the same, with fans delighted to see the legend back on set.

However, one fan had a stark warning for the iconic character, as they urged him to stay away from the pub on Christmas day.

Viewers will be aware that a murder is set to occur over the festive period, with the victim still being kept underwraps.

All we know so far is that the body belongs to a man, thanks to Sharon's announcement that 'he's dead' during the flash forward episode in February.

Let's all hope that Patrick doesn't go anywhere near the pub on that fateful night, or get on the wrong side of The Six!

It is still unclear when Patrick will return, but one thing is for sure, we can't wait!
