Driver Charged in Connection with Fatal Collision of Nine-Year-Old in London
The driver of a London bus faces multiple charges following the tragic death of Ada Bicakci, who succumbed to injuries from a collision in August 2023.
A 23-year-old man has been charged in relation to the death of a nine-year-old girl who was struck by a bus in Bexleyheath, southeast London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Ada Bicakci, a Turkish-British national, was involved in the tragic incident on August 3, 2023, and passed away in hospital two days later, on August 5.
The collision also involved Ada's five-year-old brother, who was reportedly struck but taken to hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the bus, identified as Martin Asolo-Agogua, was apprehended at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug driving.
Following a thorough investigation, he has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and driving while exceeding the drug limit.
Ada Bicakci was known for her enthusiasm for gymnastics and swimming and attended a local primary school in Bexleyheath, where she lived with her family.
She also attended a Turkish school in the region, reflecting her cultural heritage.
In a gesture of compassion, her family confirmed that Ada’s organs were donated after her death, aiding six other individuals in need.
Asolo-Agogua, who hails from Nunhead in South London, has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on March 24, 2024. The Metropolitan Police continue to appeal for any witnesses to assist with their ongoing investigation.
