Sarah Baker, who had just completed her master's degree and was in the process of buying her first home, was heading to Somerset for a weekend away when Hull, in his Ford Transit van, collided with her Volkswagen. Her family described her as a caring and generous individual, and her death has left a significant void in their lives.

Hull was approximately one-and-a-half to two times over the legal drink-drive limit at the time of the crash. Despite being refused service at a pub due to his intoxication and advised not to drive, he chose to drive his van.

He was later found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, leading to his imprisonment and a subsequent nine-year driving ban. The incident, described by the judge and police investigator as a needless tragedy, highlights the severe consequences of drunk driving.
