Does the 10pm curfew apply to hotels or casinos?

The 10pm curfew across the entire hospitality industry starts tonight in England and Wales, and tomorrow (September 25) in Scotland.

Pubs, restaurants, and bars will all have to shut their doors at 10pm, or risk a hefty £10,000 fine.

The curfew comes as part of a package of new restrictions introduced to help curb a second wave of coronavirus.

But are hotels and casinos exempt from the curfew?

Yes, the 10pm curfew applies to hotels in England and Wales.

The curfew will also apply to hotels in Scotland from September 25.


The 10pm curfew applies to hotels, too


Northern Ireland has not yet announced any curfew plans for hotels.

Of course, guests will be able to stay in the hotel past 10pm, but the hotel bar, restaurant, and any events halls will have to close.

Hotels will still be able to provide room service, if guests order through a phone or online whilst at the premises.

Venues caught flouting the curfew will face a fine up to £10,000.

Staff and customers will also have to wear face masks while inside the hotel, unless seated to eat or drink.



Does the 10pm curfew apply to casinos?


Yes, the curfew also applies to casinos in England and Wales.

Scottish casinos will also face a 10pm curfew from Friday, while Northern Ireland is yet to announce any curfew plans.

The entire venue will have to shut its doors at 10pm, or risk a £10,000 fine.

It does not matter if you are in the middle of an intense game, customers will all have to leave the premises.

Staff and customers will also have to wear face coverings while inside casinos, unless seated to eat or drink.
