Czech Republic's Krystyna Pyszkova Wins Miss World 2024
Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic has been crowned Miss World 2024, succeeding Poland's Karolina Bielawska in a dazzling ceremony in Mumbai.
India's Sini Shetty reached the top 8, but it was Lebanon's Yasmina Zaytoun who became the first runner-up.
The Czech model, also studying law and business, founded the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation and champions sustainable education. She's multilingual and musically gifted, having established an English school in Tanzania, where she volunteered.
India, hosting for the first time in 28 years, saw its contender, Femina Miss India World 2022 winner Shetty, fall just short of the final four. The country has a legacy of six Miss World titles.
At the Jio World Convention Centre, the 71st Miss World pageant featured 112 international contestants. The judging panel included noted personalities from entertainment, sports, and media.
Co-hosts Karan Johar and Megan Young, along with performances by popular artists, added glamour to the event. Priyanka Chopra Jonas underscored the pageant's theme 'beauty with purpose' in a special video.
The glittering ceremony also tied in with the Indian web series "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," during which cast members presented alongside contestants.
Kicking off with initial events in New Delhi, the month-long pageant showcased various competitions, from talent to sports to charity work, emphasizing the contestants' role as agents of change.
