Crystal Palace Eyes Strengthening Squad Despite Injury Woes

Crystal Palace, currently battling injuries, intends to bolster their roster during the January transfer window. With a lean squad and financial constraints, the club, led by Chairman Steve Parish, is eyeing loan deals.

The midfield is a critical concern, especially with Cheick Doucoure sidelined for the season and Jefferson Lerma also out recently. While Jeffrey Schlupp and Will Hughes contribute, and youngster David Ozoh shows promise, an infusion of higher-caliber talent is necessary.

Additionally, Palace needs a backup for left-back Tyrick Mitchell and a left-wing forward to challenge Jordan Ayew. A new forward might be on the cards unless Jean-Philippe Mateta’s recent goal-scoring spree keeps him at the club.

Potential recruits include Sunderland’s promising 21-year-old Pierre Ekwah and Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike, who could be a forward replacement should Mateta depart.

As for departures, Mateta may stay after finding the net, though interest from abroad lingers. No significant squad reductions are anticipated, barring enticing loan proposals for players like Jesurun Rak-Sakyi or Naouirou Ahamada.
