Croydon grandmother 'lost everything' in flood as home left covered in mould

A grandmother in Croydon, Rosemary Boden, 64, lost many of her belongings, including family heirlooms and new furniture, after a plumbing job gone wrong flooded her council flat with mains water.

The flood occurred due to a bungled plumbing job by workmen from Mulalley, Croydon’s kitchen fitting contractors. Despite several attempts to salvage her property, Boden was repeatedly denied access to her flat due to health risks and extensive mould growth.

Boden believes the delay in her returning home and collecting her items is due to a dispute between Croydon Council and Mulalley about who is responsible for paying for the damage.

She is also concerned that her precarious housing situation will affect the benefits she receives. Croydon council and Mulalley have not provided a comment on the matter.
