The public inquiry into the UK government's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic has revealed private WhatsApp messages between key players, shedding light on strained relations and contempt among officials.
The messages include Boris Johnson's early doubts about the pandemic's severity, exchanges between Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain expressing frustration with Johnson's leadership, expletive-laden messages from Cummings about Helen MacNamara, and criticism of Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
The messages also show Johnson questioning the need for lockdowns and raising concerns about the age of those dying from Covid-19. The inquiry continues, with Johnson set to give evidence later this year.
