Coronavirus Probe: BVI Looking For Link To Antigua Case
Local officials have expressed interest in any passenger who travelled to the Territory via a British Airways Flight from London to Antigua following a positive case of the coronoavirus COVID-19 in Antigua.
"All persons who traveled on Tuesday March 10 on British Airways flight 2157 from London to Antigua and continued onward to the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport are asked to contact the Ministry of Health immediately at telephone 468-2274 between 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m," a public appeal stated.
Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne announced on Friday, March 13 that Antigua and Barbuda has recorded its first confirmed case of the coronavirus (COVID-19). In an address to the nation, Browne called for citizens to remain calm as he noted the risk of transmission is low.
The infected person is a woman, who arrived in Antigua on March 10, via a British Airways flight from the UK and she travelled directly to her mother’s home after deplaning.
On March 14, the Ministry of Health and Social Services in Montserrat announced that it is also investigating a suspected case of COVID-19 on the island. This individual, who is currently under home isolation, arrived on Montserrat from the United Kingdom after travelling to Antigua on British Airways flight 2157, which was transporting a passenger whom the Antiguan authorities identified as Positive for COVID-19.
