'Coronation Street' Falls Out of Christmas TV Top 10
ITV's 'Coronation Street' did not make the top 10 most-watched TV shows on Christmas Day, marking an inconsistent day for soap operas. 'Emmerdale' also missed the top 10, whereas 'EastEnders' saw its highest Christmas viewership in four years due to a well-promoted murder plot.

'Coronation Street' and 'Emmerdale' aired 30-minute episodes earlier in the evening rather than their usual hour-long specials. 'Coronation Street' attracted 2.6 million viewers at 7 pm, a notable decline from past years.
The overnight ratings used don't account for catch-up service viewership post-Christmas. The 'Coronation Street' episode focused on Peter Barlow's exit, marking the first absence from the top 10 in decades. 'Emmerdale' was out of the top 10 for the second consecutive year with 1.92 million viewers.
On BBC One, 'EastEnders' drew 3.6 million viewers for its special episode at 9:45 pm. The 'Doctor Who' Christmas special and 'Ghosts' series finale also had successful viewership.
The King's Christmas broadcast was the top program with 7.5 million viewers, though slightly down from 2022.
