During a session addressing science and technology questions, Billington stated that Oasis had reported instances of coercion and exploitation related to the financial pressures faced by some women in her constituency.
"The domestic abuse charity Oasis in my constituency has alerted me to the appalling situation that young women are being coerced to set up their own OnlyFans to generate income," she said.
Billington urged the Secretary of State to outline measures being considered to mitigate such coercive practices within this sector.
This issue has emerged alongside a broader examination of criminal activities associated with OnlyFans.
A report from February discovered that over 1,500 crimes linked to the platform were reported to 38 police forces across the UK over the past five years.
These crimes included reports of women being forced to engage in sex work and incidents of revenge porn.
In response to Billington's statements, Technology Secretary Peter Kyle acknowledged the challenges presented by coercion and exploitation on digital platforms.
He reaffirmed the need for robust measures to eliminate illegal content and emphasized his commitment to monitoring the situation closely.
At the same session, UK MPs also raised issues regarding mobile connectivity across the country.
Conservative MP Mark Pritchard highlighted the lack of mobile signal in his Shropshire constituency, suggesting that the limited number of mobile network operators in the UK may contribute to inadequate coverage.
He called for increased competition within the telecommunications sector to address these connectivity issues.
In a further exchange, Technology Minister Chris Bryant noted significant discrepancies between perceived connectivity and actual service quality.
He stressed the importance of addressing these barriers to enhance mobile service for all constituents.
As the session continued, the conversation around mobile connectivity included a humorous exchange regarding the poor mobile signal experienced in specific areas, demonstrating the members' commitment to resolving both connectivity and safety issues faced by their constituents.
