Chris Brown Appears in London Court Ahead of October Assault Trial
US R&B star makes a brief appearance at Southwark Crown Court as he prepares to face charges over an alleged nightclub attack
US singer Chris Brown appeared before a London court on Wednesday for a short procedural hearing as preparations continue for his trial later this year in connection with an alleged assault in a London nightclub.
Brown, who has denied all charges against him, was at Southwark Crown Court alongside his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, who has also pleaded not guilty, in a case that has drawn significant public and media attention.
Prosecutors allege that the R&B artist attacked a music producer at the Tape nightclub in central London in February two thousand twenty-three, striking the victim with a bottle in what they describe as an unprovoked incident.
Brown has pleaded not guilty to attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm and faces additional counts including assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, which relate to the same incident.
Both defendants entered their pleas at earlier hearings, and the proceedings have been ongoing under the oversight of the UK legal system.
During Wednesday’s brief appearance, Brown confirmed his identity to the court but did not make any substantive statements.
Supporters seated in the public gallery waved as he left the dock, reflecting the artist’s continued fan following.
The court granted bail to both Brown and Akinlolu, subject to conditions, and scheduled a further preparatory hearing for April ahead of the full trial.
The trial is set to begin in October twenty twenty-six and is expected to last several days, during which the prosecution will present its case and the defence will challenge the allegations.
Brown’s legal team has consistently maintained his denial of the charges.
The artist, known for his chart-topping hits and international touring, was previously granted bail after posting a substantial financial security, enabling him to continue his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour while the case progresses through the courts.
