Children with long Covid have been "dismissed and ignored" by those supposed to support them, the Scottish Covid Inquiry has heard.

Children with long Covid in Scotland have been "dismissed and ignored" by those responsible for their care, according to testimony heard by the Scottish Covid Inquiry.

Helen Goss, who represents the charity Long Covid Kids, said that over 250 families in Scotland are affected, but the true number may be higher due to a lack of data.

She claimed that healthcare professionals often lack training to diagnose and treat long Covid, leading to inconsistencies in care across health boards and a "postcode lottery" for treatment.

Goss also said that inappropriate treatments, such as exercise and cognitive behavioral therapy, have been recommended. Many families have had to seek private healthcare to help their children, she added.
