Charli XCX Dominates Brit Awards with Five Wins, Including Best Artist and Song

The Brit Awards 2025 saw Charli XCX awarded five trophies, alongside notable performances and tributes.
The Brit Awards 2025 took place at London's O2 Arena, where Charli XCX emerged as the standout artist of the night, winning five prestigious awards.

Among her accolades were Best Artist, Album of the Year for 'Brat', and Song of the Year for her hit 'Guess'.

Charli XCX's statement on stage indicated her surprise and excitement at the recognition for her song about underwear, highlighting the night as a significant moment in her transition from underground artist to mainstream pop star.

Other notable winners included Ezra Collective, who won Group of the Year, and Sam Fender, who took home the Best Alternative/Rock Act award.

Stormzy, honored as Best Hip-Hop Act, expressed gratitude during his acceptance speech.

The international categories were clinched by Fontaines D.C., who won Best International Group, and Chappell Roan, who received Best International Act and International Song for 'Good Luck, Babe!'.

A standout performance came from US artist Sabrina Carpenter, who was awarded the Global Success Award, bringing high energy with a mash-up of her songs 'Espresso' and 'Bed Chem'.

Carpenter also drew attention for her cheeky stage presence and remarks regarding the honor of receiving recognition from British audiences.

The evening featured an emotional tribute to Liam Payne, following his untimely death last October.

The tribute included a montage of his career highlights, reminiscing his contributions both as a member of One Direction and as a solo artist.

The mood shifted from celebratory to somber as guests paid their respects through the video presentation.

Charli XCX, in her acceptance speech for Best Dance Act, advocated for the genre, citing the emotional depth and euphoric experience it provides to listeners.

She acknowledged her progress in the music industry, sharing that she has often felt like an outsider until this pivotal moment.

The event was hosted by Jack Whitehall, marking his return after a four-year hiatus.

Whitehall infused humor into the proceedings, playfully referencing the personalities in attendance and the state of the music industry.

His remarks included light-hearted jabs at various artists, establishing a jovial atmosphere.

In total, the 2025 Brit Awards spotlighted talent across various genres while addressing broader themes of artist support and development.

Several artists used their platform to call for better protection and nurturing for emerging talents, stressing the importance of allowing artists the time they need to refine their work.

The night concluded with vibrant performances, including Teddy Swims and Jade, with both artists adding to the entertainment of the evening.

The event reaffirmed the Brit Awards' position in celebrating the evolution and diversity of contemporary music across the UK and beyond.
