Residents near a pizza cheese factory, Dairy Partners Ltd, in Aberarad, Carmarthenshire, have voiced complaints about unbearable smells and noise. The factory, which produces 400 tonnes of pizza cheese weekly, has faced criticism for a waste treatment plant built without planning permission.
Natural Resources Wales reported 380 complaints about the site in 2022 and 2023, mostly regarding noise and odor. Some residents claimed the smell affects their quality of life, while others cited noise disruptions.
Carmarthenshire Council advised the company against proceeding with the treatment plant's construction in 2019. The plant now operates with permit approval. Dairy Partners maintains it consulted neighbors and addressed complaints promptly.
