Carmarthen: Farmers disrupt A48 traffic with go-slow protest

In Carmarthen, over 100 tractors and trucks slowed the A48 to protest against proposed changes to farming subsidies.

The action caused significant delays, prompting police to suggest avoiding the Carmarthen to Pont Abraham stretch.

Protesters are challenging the Welsh government's new Sustainable Farming Scheme which mandates farmers to allocate 20% of their land to environmental efforts, fearing it would burden businesses and increase bureaucracy.

Despite these concerns, the government maintains the changes will promote sustainable agriculture and tackle climate issues.
