Firefighters have been at the scene since Sunday and have managed to control the fire.

Two firefighters were injured when their vehicle overturned, and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident.

The wildfire has also affected local wildlife, including ground-nesting birds and trees planted by schoolchildren.

The electricity supply has not been affected.

The Scottish government agency warns that people underestimate the potential for forest fires, which can release large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

In May 2019, a wildfire in the Flow Country in Sutherland released around 700,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases.

The Scottish Greens report that the Highland region alone has seen over 360 wildfires between 2017 and 2022.

The Green MSP Ariane Burgess emphasizes the importance of the Highlands in the fight against the climate crisis, as the region is on the front line of the crisis.
