California Woman Files Lawsuit Alleging Pressure Into Breast Removal at 13 Due to "Erroneous Belief" of Being Transgender

Lawsuit Accuses Doctors and Hospital of Negligence and Profit-Driven Medical Abuse

In a shocking lawsuit filed in California State Court, an 18-year-old woman named Kayla Lovdahl has accused doctors and a hospital of pressuring her into undergoing a bilateral mastectomy at the age of 13 based on her mistaken belief that she was transgender. Lovdahl alleges that the medical professionals involved prioritized financial gain over her well-being.

According to court documents filed on June 14, Lovdahl claims that at the age of 11, she was exposed to online influencers who led her to believe she was transgender. Seeking guidance when their daughter claimed to be a boy, Lovdahl's parents turned to medical professionals. However, the lawsuit asserts that the doctors swiftly affirmed her belief without conducting a thorough psychological evaluation.

The legal filing further alleges that hormone blockers and testosterone were administered to Lovdahl by the age of 12, without appropriate psychological assessment. Lovdahl claims to have undergone only a single 75-minute transition evaluation. According to her, the doctors allegedly justified their actions by stating, "It is better to have a live son than a dead daughter."

The procedures, Lovdahl argues, constituted "ideological and profit-driven medical abuse." Having detransitioned at 17, she now believes that the doctors' approach was negligent and that her earlier identification as transgender was a mistake.

Lovdahl maintains that her mental health issues should have raised red flags for the medical professionals involved. She cites medical studies indicating that transitioning does not necessarily improve the mental health of young girls in the long run.

The lawsuit further accuses the hospital and doctors of failing to obtain proper "informed consent" from Lovdahl and her parents. It asserts that comprehensive therapy and counseling were never provided as part of the decision-making process.

Lawyers representing Lovdahl, who also goes by the pseudonym Layla Jane, have labeled the procedures "an insane form of child abuse." They argue that cases like this one are crucial in combating the promotion of radical ideologies and agendas.

Seeking unspecified damages, Lovdahl claims to have endured profound physical and emotional wounds, along with profound regret resulting from the procedures.

The lawsuit highlights a deeply concerning aspect of the intersection between medical decision-making, psychological evaluation, and the treatment of gender dysphoria in minors. As the case unfolds, it may shed light on the necessity for comprehensive assessments, informed consent, and a cautious approach when it comes to irreversible procedures performed on individuals at such a young age.
