Burial of William Brown: King Charles Grants Approval
King Charles III has authorized the interment of seven-year-old William Brown in a Folkestone churchyard, following the boy’s death in a suspected hit-and-run on December 6th.
The child was struck near Sandgate Esplanade and a 49-year-old suspect has been arrested and released on bail. William's mother had sought community support for a funeral at the local St Mary and St Eanswythe Church.
The monarchy, advised by the Privy Council, can approve such burials in disused churchyards. The council expressed sympathy for William’s family and the Folkestone community, noting the boy's attendance at St Eanswythe's Church of England Primary School.
