British Woman One of Three Arrested in Connection with Shooting of Far-Right Politician in Spain

A British woman and two Spanish men have been detained over the recent shooting of Alejandro Vidal-Quadras, a far-right politician and co-founder of the Vox party, in Madrid.

Vidal-Quadras, previously a leader in the People's Party and vocal critic of the Iranian opposition, was shot in the face on November 9 in an upscale Madrid neighborhood and is currently hospitalized.

The detainees include a couple arrested in Lanjaron and another man held in Fuengirola for his connection to the motorbike used in the attack. None are believed to have fired the shot.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a potential terrorist act and examining possible Iranian involvement, a theory stemming from the victim's critique of Iran's political opposition.

However, no evidence of such a link has been found. Vidal-Quadras, who has faced Iranian sanctions for supporting the exiled opposition group Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, has been less politically active in recent years but continues as a commentator and writer.
