British farmers protest outside parliament over food imports
British farmers staged a tractor rally outside Parliament to protest against post-Brexit trade deals and the import of what they consider inferior food products.
Over 50 tractors bearing the Union Jack and slogans like "no farmers, no food, no future" participated. The farmers demand stricter food labeling, improved national food security, and an end to trade agreements that permit lower-standard food imports that undermine local producers.
Liz Webster of Save British Farming accused the government of failing to protect British agriculture and standards. This protest is part of a wider movement across Europe where farmers are pushing back against cheaper imports and seeking tougher environmental standards.
