British Billionaire Joe Lewis Faces US Insider Trading Charges

British billionaire Joe Lewis has been charged with insider trading by the US authorities.

According to the US Attorney Damian Williams, Lewis orchestrated a scheme to pass inside information about companies he invested in to friends, personal assistants, private pilots, and romantic partners.

This allowed them to make millions of dollars in profit.

The 86-year-old Lewis, who is worth $6.1 billion, was charged with 16 counts of securities fraud and three counts of conspiracy, covering crimes from 2013 to 2021.

His lawyer David Zornow has vowed to defend him vigorously in court.
