She carried out the gruesome act in 2016 while on holiday with her husband, Sukhjit Singh, in India. During the trial, it was revealed that Mann and her accomplice, Gurpreet Singh, were secret lovers, and their affair had been ongoing for a year.

They plotted the murder together, with Mann lacing her husband's food with sleeping pills before killing him. The case was described as "the rarest of rare," and both were found guilty of murder and other charges.

Mann stood to gain significantly from her husband's life insurance policy and various properties in England and India. Gurpreet was sentenced to life imprisonment, while Mann faces the death penalty. Despite her protests of innocence, she was convicted of the heinous crime.
