A theatre token dated to 1766, allowing the holder unlimited access to shows at the Bristol Old Vic, may still be valid.

The token, ticket no. 35, is being auctioned at Henry Aldridge & Sons auction house in Devizes, Wiltshire, with an estimated sale price of £1,500 to £2,500.

Only 50 of these tokens were initially issued to the original shareholders of the Bristol Old Vic, entitling them to attend all performances.

If the token is authenticated as genuine, the Bristol Old Vic has stated that it will honor its policy and provide free tickets to the owner.
