A grandmother, Gaie Delap, climbed a motorway gantry as part of a Just Stop Oil protest on the M25 in November 2022 to draw attention to the "climate emergency."

Delap, a retired teacher from Bristol, is one of 12 Stop Oil protesters facing accusations of breaching a court injunction aimed at restricting motorway protests. During her testimony in court, Delap stated that she climbed the gantry for the sake of her grandchildren's future and because she believes the climate crisis has not been taken seriously enough.

The protest by Just Stop Oil caused considerable delays across several junctions in Surrey, London, Essex, and Kent. The hearing at the High Court in London is expected to conclude later this week.
