British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will travel as planned to this week’s United Nations meetings in New York, Downing Street said on Sunday, despite uncertainty over whether Britain’s top court might intervene in his suspension of parliament.

Johnson is expected to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US President Donald Trump, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, European Council President Donald Tusk and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and at a Climate Action Summit.

His bilateral talks are likely to be dominated by Brexit and the pursuit of liberal post-Brexit trade deals with the United States and other non-EU nations.

“As we make progress in our Brexit negotiations, we are also taking our vision of a truly Global Britain to the UN – leading by example as a force for good in the world,” Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who will also attend the meetings, wrote in The Sunday Telegraph.

“We want to be good European neighbours and buccaneering global free traders,” Raab said.

Britain’s Supreme Court is expected to rule early this week on legal challenges to Johnson’s suspension of parliament. He could be forced to cut short his New York trip if the court rules the suspension was unlawful.

The court could order the recall of parliament, where most opposition lawmakers and some of Johnson’s Conservatives want to enforce legislation to prevent a no-deal Brexit on October 31.

Johnson has insisted that Britain will leave the European Union on that date, with or without a deal.
