All 160 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated and transported to the terminal. The flight had arrived from Memphis.

Authorities, including the FAA and the NTSB, are investigating the incident, which is the third this week involving a United Boeing aircraft. In response, both Boeing and United's stock prices fell by 1%.

The day before, a United Boeing 777 lost a tire en route to Japan and made a safe emergency landing in Los Angeles, carrying 249 people. Earlier in the week, a United Boeing 737 was forced to return to Houston after debris ingestion caused its engine to emit flames.

In a separate issue, the NTSB is looking into a Boeing 737 MAX 8 incident from last month involving rudder pedal complications during landing. United has vowed to cooperate with all investigations and will reposition the affected plane from the taxiway when possible.
