Essex Police's 45-Day Investigation Uncovers the Body of Missing Man, Cumali Turhan

In a grim discovery, Essex Police have found the body of Cumali Turhan, a 46-year-old man who was last seen on November 19th at The Globe pub in Chelmsford.

The find comes at the conclusion of an exhaustive 45-day search at a landfill site in Essex, marking a pivotal moment in an investigation clouded with complexity and uncertainty.

On the early hours of November 19th, Turhan was seen at The Globe, located on Rainsford Road, and his family raised the alarm on his disappearance later that day when he failed to show up for work.

Police have since feared the worst, suspecting he was the victim of murder.

Subsequent to his disappearance, officers began a painstaking search of the Essex landfill, where his remains were ultimately discovered this past Saturday.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe of Essex Police described the investigation as 'extremely challenging,' underscoring the difficulties faced by law enforcement in unraveling the circumstances surrounding Turhan's disappearance.

Two individuals have emerged at the center of the investigation.

Ceyhan Dinler, 38, who exited the UK from London Stansted Airport on the day Turhan was last seen, is wanted by police in connection with the disappearance.

Meanwhile, 44-year-old Ciprian Ilie, who is homeless, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court charged with assisting an offender.

The court saw Ilie, dressed in a standard-issue grey tracksuit, wiping away tears as he stood in the dock, supported by a Romanian interpreter.

He entered not guilty pleas to charges of assisting an offender and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.

As the judicial process unfolds, Ilie remains in custody with a trial date set for September 15, 2025, at Chelmsford Crown Court.

This complex case has captured the public's attention due to its grim narrative and the cross-border elements suggested by Dinler's departure from the UK.

Additional information from Essex Police has hinted at Turhan's potential presence at Barista, a bar and restaurant on Duke Street in Chelmsford, subsequent to his appearance at The Globe.

However, CCTV footage failed to confirm his exit from Barista, leaving authorities with unresolved questions about his movements on that fateful day.

As the community grapples with the revelations from this case, the investigation continues.

Authorities remain committed to unearthing the full sequence of events that led to Turhan's tragic end, ensuring that justice is served and that those responsible are held to account.
