Bobi, the oldest dog in history, dies aged 31

Bobi the dog had a simple life. To some, a pretty enviable life. Walk, eat, sleep, sleep some more, get some head scratches, sleep. Repeat.

Bobi, recognized as the world's oldest living dog by the Guinness World Records, has passed away at the age of 31. Bobi was a Rafeiro do Alentejo breed and lived on a Portuguese farm.

His owner, Leonel Costa, described Bobi as a warrior and credited his long life to good nutrition, contact with nature, freedom to explore his environment, consistent veterinary care, and love.

Bobi was born in 1992 and narrowly escaped being buried alive as a puppy when his father believed there were too many puppies. His age was officially verified by his vet and a pet database authorized by the Portuguese government.

On his 31st birthday, Bobi celebrated with friends, locals, journalists, and veterinarians, wearing a birthday hat and receiving certificates from Guinness World Records. His remarkable longevity made him an international sensation.
