The UK government is implementing changes to recycling and waste collection systems to standardize recycling across England by 2026. Under the new rules, every county and borough in England will recycle the same materials, and food waste bins will be collected at least once a week to reduce landfill waste.
The government also aims to collect non-hazardous industrial waste every fortnight and offer free garden waste collections to every home in England.
However, some councils have expressed concerns about meeting the 2026 deadline due to the costs of acquiring new equipment. The changes are intended to simplify recycling in England and reduce disparities in recycling practices across regions.
