Biden Asserts Missile Strikes in Ukraine Prove the Need to Halt Putin

President Joe Biden denounced Russia’s recent missile strikes on Ukraine, which took the lives of 31 and injured over 120, as evidence of Vladimir Putin’s resolve to demolish Ukraine.
Speaking from his vacation in St. Croix, Biden emphasized the urgency of stopping Putin, highlighted the defensive success using allied-provided air systems, and called on Congress to approve further aid.

Biden stated that the aerial attack was the most severe since the 2022 Russian invasion began and underlined the importance of sustained U.S. assistance to Ukraine. He warned of the graver implications for NATO and European security, and the potential risks to the U.S. if autocrats in Europe go unchecked.

The U.S. announced a $250 million arms package for Ukraine, but further funding is at a standstill as Republicans push for stronger border security measures in exchange for the approval of an additional $61 billion in aid. The White House cautioned that without new appropriations, support for Ukraine could dry up by year-end.

Despite over $110 billion in aid already sanctioned, no new funding has been cleared since the Republicans’ House takeover. Biden stressed that history would not look kindly on those who ignore the call for freedom.

Additionally, Biden’s National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, confirmed discussions regarding a missile breaching Polish airspace, ensuring U.S. solidarity and support to Poland, with Biden monitoring the situation closely.
