The 39-year-old from Edinburgh introduced himself and his elaborate contraption, a machine that swings giant cannonballs in a swirling pattern, which were set on fire.

Kevin went on to explain that the sack he would be wearing over his face during the trick would completely blind him as he tried to navigate his way through the cannonballs.

‘These cannonballs will career across the stage, taking out literally everything in their path,’ he said.

‘When that happens, I will attempt to walk through them without being struck.’

But as Kevin asked for complete silence from the audience and attempted to begin his act – something went wrong, and it wasn’t long before Ant and Dec noticed from the sidelines.

‘That’s not right,’ Ant worriedly said.

Kevin had previously showed judge Amanda Holden a smaller scale of the contraption and the pattern in which the balls were supposed to swing – but in the life-size version, their movements are not the same.

But luckily Kevin made it through to the end without setting himself on fire, as he admitted to the judges that something had gone wrong.

Although despite the mishap, Kevin still managed to get four yeses from the judges and David Walliams even described him as a ‘sexy Dr Who’.
