Residents decry city's transformation into a 'playground for the wealthy'

Jeff Bezos's upcoming $10 million wedding to Lauren Sánchez in Venice is facing backlash from local residents and activists, who argue that the extravagant event exemplifies the city's catering to affluent outsiders at the expense of its own citizens.

The planned celebrations, set to take place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, have raised concerns over environmental impact and the monopolization of public spaces, leading to organized protests against the nuptials.
