The UK government is considering a crackdown on vaping to protect children, which includes banning fruit flavors, raising taxes on e-cigarettes, hiding vapes from view in shops, introducing plain packaging, and possibly banning disposable vapes.
Legislation for tighter vaping restrictions was announced in the King's Speech, and it aims to address the rising number of young people vaping.
The government is also planning to raise the age of sale for smoking incrementally from 2027, with the goal of preventing those under 15 from legally buying cigarettes or tobacco. The proportion of 11- to 17-year-olds who vape has doubled in the past two years, reaching 7.6%.
