Axiom 2 Crew Successfully Returns from Eight-Day Mission on International Space Station

The crew included two Americans and two Saudis, including the first Arab woman sent into orbit.

Axiom Space, a Houston-based venture headed by NASA's former ISS program manager, organized, equipped, and trained the crew entirely at private expense.

Peggy Whitson, the U.S. record holder for most time spent in orbit, served as the mission's director of human spaceflight.

The mission marked the first time three astronauts from the Arab world were aboard the ISS together.

It was the second space station mission organized by Axiom, which aims to expand commercial access to low-Earth orbit.

SpaceX, a company founded by Elon Musk, supplied the Falcon 9 rocket and crew capsule that transported Axiom's team to and from orbit.

NASA provided the launch site and was responsible for the Axiom crew during their time in space.
