Apple to Face EU Antitrust Officials over App Store Subscription Restrictions

Apple will face the European Union's antitrust officials at a closed-door hearing on Friday to argue against potential charges related to restrictions on app developers selling subscriptions on the App Store.

30 June 2023 · 00:16 UTC

The hearing comes just days before Big Tech companies must notify themselves as gatekeepers and ahead of the Digital Markets Act, which will set tight rules for companies and require them to allow rival app stores.

Apple is also facing several other EU antitrust cases, including an investigation into Apple Pay.

The hearing is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will include Spotify and consumer groups BEUC stating their views.
