Anglian Water's Advertisement Banned for Omitting Information on Sewage Release

Anglian Water's advertisement was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for omitting information about the company's history of releasing sewage.

The ASA considered the fact that Anglian Water had fallen below expected standards in a number of environmental performance assessments.

Latest reports showed Anglian Water performed "below target" for the number of sewerage pollution incidents and for compliance with their discharge permit.

The company was also subject to enforcement action over recent years for environmental permitting regulations offences.

Anglian Water denies the allegations and claims it has an overwhelmingly positive impact on the environment.

However, the ASA ruled that the omission of the harmful activities was deemed to be misleading and a breach of advertising codes.
