Anglian Water and Northumbrian Water Consider Sale of Joint Venture Business Wave Amid Industry Scrutiny

Anglian Water Group and Northumbrian Water Group, two of Britain's biggest water companies, are exploring the sale of Wave, their joint venture business supplier that serves thousands of non-household customers in England and Scotland.

The decision comes at a time of unprecedented public and political scrutiny of the UK water industry, following recent news that ministers were drawing up contingency plans to take Thames Water, the country's biggest supplier, into temporary public ownership.

Wave was established in 2017 as a 50-50 joint venture, taking advantage of new water industry rules that opened the non-household market up to competition.

The identity of potential buyers and the price a buyer might pay are currently unknown.
