The task force, comprised of HUD staff and reporting directly to Secretary Turner, was established to examine spending practices and enhance budget efficiency in line with an executive order from President Donald Trump.
Turner noted that the task force has already uncovered over two hundred sixty million dollars in additional savings.
Similar efforts are being pursued in other federal agencies, with the Environmental Protection Agency canceling a fifty million dollar environmental justice grant and the Department of Defense pledging to collaborate with DOGE to eliminate unnecessary costs.
These measures are part of a larger initiative aimed at enhancing governmental efficiency and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used effectively.
