UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has stated that people should not be concerned about the impact of AI on jobs because education reforms will boost skills and the technology will improve the economy in the long term.
He emphasized that AI should be seen as a "co-pilot" to assist people at work, not replace them. Sunak also mentioned plans to introduce a new qualification for all school leavers in England and efforts to improve technical training and boost adult education to ensure the UK can benefit from AI economically.
The government is planning to create the AI Safety Institute, which will road-test new AI models developed by companies and assess potential risks like bias and misinformation.
