He stated that press intrusion into his life left him feeling "paranoid." Turner admitted that some information reported by MGN titles was also published in other reports at the time, but denied that MGN gathered information about him unlawfully.

The actor claimed that the alleged intrusion had a "massive and long-lasting" impact on his privacy.

Turner stated that he was a "very private person" who only gave his mobile phone number to "close friends and family." However, he conceded that he had given interviews to the media about personal matters, such as the birth of his daughter.

The court also saw evidence of previous articles that mentioned information about Turner's personal life that he had spoken about in interviews.

MGN's barrister asked Turner about his claim that he had been labelled a "mole" by a fellow Coronation Street actor, Craig Charles.

Turner said he was "mortified" by the claim and denied being a mole.

The court also saw evidence of Turner's friendships and professional relationships that cooled due to the accusations.

The case focuses on 28 articles published by MGN.

Former political editor David Seymour has accused Piers Morgan of mocking and taunting the CEO of BT about changing PIN numbers on mobile phones during a lunch hosted by the chairman of the Mirror's parent company in 2002.

Seymour claims to have witnessed Morgan's behavior on a daily basis while working as the political editor of the Daily Mirror between 1995 and 2004.

Seymour also stated that Morgan was unreliable and apt to tell untruths when it suited him.

Morgan has not given evidence during the case and has previously denied hacking phones or telling anyone to do so.
