A pet dog, an eight-year-old toy poodle named Anna, was seriously injured after being thrown from a car that was reportedly traveling at 50 mph (80 km/h).
Anna had run off while en route to the groomers, and her owners believe she was picked up by someone before being thrown from the passenger window of a white hatchback on the A472 near the Abercynon roundabout in Wales.
Several vehicles were involved in crashes as they tried to avoid hitting the dog. Anna's owners rushed her to a vet, and although she didn't suffer any broken bones or internal bleeding, she can't use her back legs due to spinal cord swelling and nerve damage.
South Wales Police have received reports of animal cruelty concerning the incident and are asking witnesses to come forward.
