A 10-Acre Desert Escape With a Gussied-Up Bunkhouse

A 10-Acre Desert Escape With a Gussied-Up Bunkhouse

Ideal for short-term rentals, the Wonder Ranch is conveniently located in the heart of Joshua Tree and can accommodate more than 16 people.

If you’re looking to own property in the trendy desert hotspot of Joshua Tree, California, the newly listed Wonder Ranch may be of interest. Set on a 10-acre parcel-with 1.5 acres fenced-the 2,052-square-foot desert oasis has been completely renovated, inside and out.

Located just a short drive from Joshua Tree National Park, the renovate dhome can easily serve as a holiday retreat/rental property. In the living area, a plush blue sofa pops against the surrounding neutral palette.

Broad wooden beams span the ceilings, infusing the home with warm, natural tones.

A spacious, open layout now ties together the primary living areas in the 1957 structure. Crisp white walls wrap the interior, complementing the broad, exposed beams lining the ceilings. Polished concrete floors amp up the home’s allure.

Steps away from the living and dining areas is a large kitchen, complete with all-new appliances and custom-built wooden countertops. A picture window above the sink frames captivating views of the surrounding Mojave Desert and Sheephole Mountains-two landmarks which can be seen from several vantage points throughout the home.

Herringbone countertops take center stage in the kitchen. Open shelving lines the walls, catering to the space’s minimalist aesthetic.

Custom-tailored furniture dots nearly every corner in the house, including the long wooden table in the dining room. Expansive glazing ushers plenty of natural light inside.

In total, the dwelling features two bedrooms and two baths. Sliding glass doors open the interiors up to the covered patio off the rear of the home. Also outside is a hot tub and an agave cactus garden, as well as a converted bunkhouse.

Polished concrete floors continue into bedrooms, which are calming and spacious.

The primary bedroom has an en suite bath that features a marble-tiled shower and walk-in closet.

Designed for entertaining, the refinished space includes a handcrafted redwood bar, a professional ping-pong table, and six queen-size, triple bunkbeds-allowing the building to comfortably host large groups.

Industrial shelving units provide space to display collected memorabilia.

Sporting a similar style as the main residence, the detached bunkhouse is outfitted with exposed beams and has a large, open floor plan.

In addition to being sold fully furnished, the abode also includes 24-hour security cameras, and an in-ground well. "This 10-acre property offers a relaxing and entertaining ranch like no other," says listing agent Jordan Bridges. "Each morning and evening the home is greeted with the most striking sunrise and colorful sunset. With few neighbors nearby, you can enjoy the abundance of peace and natural that comes with this setting."

The queen-size bunkbed units sit nestled in the corner, with a full bathroom is located steps away.

Far away from city lights, the hot tub offers idyllic stargazing opportunities.

Last sold in 2020, the home now finds itself back on the market. "Initially, the original plan was not to sell the Wonder Ranch. The owner saw the property as a perfect getaway," says Bridges. "Yet renovating the space sparked interest to reimagine other properties in the near future, so they’ve decided to let this residence go."

An aerial view of the property highlights its secluded desert setting. In total, the home comes with 10 acres, as the five-acre parcel to the east is also included in the sale.
