67 People Marking Alexei Navalny's Funeral Detained By Russian Police, Says NGO
67 individuals were detained in Russia amid Alexei Navalny's memorial gatherings, as reported by the watchdog OVD-Info.
In total, arrests occurred in 16 cities, with six taking place in Moscow, where Navalny's well-attended funeral was conducted.
OVD-Info had previously noted 18 detentions in Novosibirsk. The Kremlin had pre-emptively cautioned against unsanctioned demonstrations, leading to a significant police deployment at Moscow's funeral services.
Navalny, a prominent critic of President Vladimir Putin, passed away in an Arctic penal colony on February 16, as confirmed by Russian officials.
