Former British Prime Minister David Cameron met with former US President Donald Trump in Florida before traveling to Washington D.C. for talks with senior US government officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The visit comes as Cameron discusses support for Ukraine and bringing stability to the Middle East.
Trump, who is expected to run for the Republican Party in the US election, has previously been criticized by Cameron.
During his US trip, Cameron is also expected to address the ongoing blockage of a proposed $60bn military aid package for Ukraine by Republican lawmakers.
Mr. Trump and some of his Republican supporters in the House of Representatives are opposing a US aid package for Ukraine, threatening to vote against it unless border security funding is included first.
British Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron has been urging Republicans to approve the aid package, but has faced opposition from Trump loyalist Marjorie Taylor-Greene, who told him to "kiss my ass." During an upcoming meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Lord Cameron plans to discuss the recent deaths of three British men working for the aid organization World Central Kitchen in Gaza, as well as the death of a US-Canadian citizen in an Israeli air strike.
Blinken has already spoken with the victim's father.
In 2015, then-British Prime Minister David Cameron criticized
Donald Trump's proposed Muslim ban as "divisive, stupid and wrong." Trump responded by suggesting he may not have a good relationship with Cameron.
In his 2019 memoirs, Cameron expressed disappointment that Trump won the election, calling his policies protectionist, xenophobic, and misogynistic.
